Leven CE (VC) Primary School

Enriching Life through Learning

We have three Foundation Governors

We currently have one vacancy.

Reverend James Grainger-Smith (RE and Community Liaison)

I’m Rev. James Grainger-Smith, the Vicar of Leven. Part of my job as a parish priest has always been to do what I can to support and encourage education in the communities I serve.

My first experience of being a Governor was at a school in Hampshire which went on to be rated as Outstanding by Ofsted.

Since moving to the East Riding I have been asked to be a Governor of three schools here. At Leven School I have a responsibility for R.E. and our links with the wider community. In addition I chair the committee which monitors the development of the school’s Christian ethos. I was delighted when our parents voted for compassion, friendship and thankfulness to be our school values – I’m a firm believer in these!

My prayer is that my work as a Governor at Leven will contribute towards every member of the school community fulfilling their potential – not just academically but as well-rounded human beings.

Mrs Rene Mattock

I’m René Mattock and I am a Foundation Governor at Leven.  This means I was appointed by the church and diocese to help oversee the Christian values of the school.  I am an accredited Methodist Local Preacher but now attend worship at St Mary’s in Beverley and will be taking one service a month at Holy Trinity at Leven from September.

My children attend the school and I feel it is important to play a role in guiding and continuing to move the school forward, aiming to make it the best place for our children to start their journey through education.  Therefore, enabling our pupils to achieve the best they can possibly be and giving them the opportunity to excel in their varied gifts and talents.
